Keep Your Focus On The Promises Of God
God’s Word contains literally thousands of promises waiting to be spoken afresh into our spirit.
One of many things I’ve learned over the years is there is no substitute for God’s word. Jesus said, “My sheep respond as they hear My voice; I know them intimately, and they follow Me”.
That means you act on what God speaks to you. That’s how Jesus lived his life.
Whenever the day comes and you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He.
It will be clear then that I am not acting alone, but that I am speaking the things I have learned directly from the Father.
The One who sent Me is with Me; He has not abandoned Me because I always do what pleases Him. (John 8:28-29)
What are you learning directly from the Father?
There’s many things we can substitute for God’s word. In other words, you can’t replace praising him for the word of God.
I’m learning more and more how true Deuteronomy 8:2-3 is— it says,
2 Remember how the Eternal, your True God, led you through the wilderness these past 40 years. He did this to humble you, to test you, to uncover your motivations, to see if you would obey His commands.
3 He humbled you by making you hungry when there was no food in the desert. Then He fed you with manna, a food you and your ancestors had never heard of. He did this because He wanted you to understand that what makes you truly alive is not the bread you eat but following every word that comes from the mouth of the Eternal One.
We need the Word of God more than ever before. The church is coming into a season where everyone must hear God for themselves— the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire it more than we do. Again you cannot substitute something else for the word of God.
God’s people are rising up with a passion to hear his word like never before.
Of course reading and having personal Bible study is not the only way God speaks to his children— but it is an important way that cannot be neglected.
God gets to me with a message in every area of my life, if I am willing to listen for His voice. I need to be so established in the Word of God that no circumstance of any kind moves me.
So that when I feel – oh, please hear this accurately – when I feel the weakest, I can rise to the greatest strength for someone who is weaker.
I can rise above my own circumstances because of Who it is that is resident in me, enabling me to minister to others in spite of my own circumstances. — Iverna Tomkins
God’s promises regarding prayer— “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. . .”
Remember go to the right door.
“Quit talking to all the people who can’t help you.”
The last part of the Scripture in Matthew is,
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
Over the years the Lord has changed some of the things I desired— for the things he desires for me— so I don’t even miss the things I desired.
Hopefully you are finding this in your own life also.
I heard someone say one time, “I don’t ever again want to want what You don’t want to give me. If You don’t want me to have it, then I don’t want to want it!”
Dick and I have both come to that place!
